Ujjayi breathing helps warm up and relax the body. Breathing with ujjayi allows you to direct the breath to the part of the body that you are working with or healing in an asana. Every yoga class I teach, I always practice & encourage deep ujjayi breathing during the whole practice.
I even use ujjayi breathing at the poker table at times to relax and slow down my heart rate. Keep the whisper quieter focus on the constriction of the air passage and slow things down
